Job overview
Whole-Time Locum Consultant Dermatologist to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. This post is to cover maternity leave and will be fixed-term for 12 months.
We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers.
Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
Should any further vacancies arise shortlisted applicants will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will, together with consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive, Dermatology Service. The successful candidate will work flexibly and co-operatively with other members of the team to provide a high quality, comprehensive service within this teaching hospital environment. There are monthly team meetings and weekly Consultants’ meetings.
The appointee will, together with consultant colleagues, contribute to the provision of outpatient and day case services.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered (or eligible to be registered) with the GMC with a licence to practise
- Name on the specialist register for relevant specialty or eligible within 6 months of the date of the interview
Desirable criteria
- MD or PhD or equivalent
- MRCP (or equivalent)
Clinical experience
Essential criteria
- Ability to work as an independent practitioner in Dermatology. Possess broad clinical experience in the general aspects of the post plus have undertaken extensive training.
Research
Essential criteria
- Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate
Desirable criteria
- Publications in Peer reviewed journals.
Teaching and training
Essential criteria
- Experience of teaching medical students and junior doctors
Continuous Professional Development
Essential criteria
- Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
Desirable criteria
- Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio
Management and Administration
Essential criteria
- Evidence of ability to work with management and previous experience of management groups.
