Knowledge, skills & experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working in a NHS Laboratory environment
- Demonstrate broad knowledge of Biochemistry techniques
- Experience of working in a team and alone
- Experience of working to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); contributing to their review and implementation
- Communicate effectively and accurately, face to face, written, and by phone with colleagues and users of the service
Desirable criteria
- Ability to plan and manage individual daily workload and prioritise in response to service need
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of quality systems with reference to UKAS
- Be able to supervise trainee and support grade staff
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or equivalent
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Desirable criteria
- Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) Specialist Diploma in Biochemistry or equivalent

- Acts to support and enable effective teamwork
- Delivers work of consistent and predictable high quality
- Prepared to work flexibly, including participation in a 7 day, 24 hour shift pattern
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and data quality
- Ability and willingness to fulfil the travel requirements of the post - primary place of work as per JD but on rare occasion may be asked to work at another site where the Trust has responsibility for Pathology services.
