An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Pathology Administrative Team primarily based at Leighton Hospital.
The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive, quality and confidential secretarial/administrative service to the North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service (NMCPS).
Main duties of the job
The Directorate Support Secretary will be expected to organise their workload and co-ordinate their activities in conjunction with, and supervised by the Operational Services Manager to ensure that an efficient service is provided.
The post holder will be capable of the full administrative function within the team, and be able to step-in to fill gaps, to ensure continuity of services.
It is essential that the post holder is able to exercise initiative suitable to the role, and is fully supportive to other colleagues in the administrative team.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- 5 GCSE’s or equivalent to include English and Maths at Grade C or above or equivalent.
- Computer skills, ECDL or equivalent, Microsoft Office.
Desirable criteria
- RSA 2 typewriting or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology / Previous secretarial experience
- Previous experience of working in a Pathology Department
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective customer service skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise own work.
- Good interpersonal skills - with all grades of staff including staff outside of the laboratory especially with ward and clinical staff with regards to results.
- Demonstrate good organisational and time management skills.
Desirable criteria
- Understand Pathology and Trust IT Systems.
