Job overview
Applications are invited for a post CCT fellow in devices, with an option to include either heart failure or ICC as an additional sub-specialty.
This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months and would suit a registrar with their CCT looking to further enhance their experience in devices including complex device implant, pacemaker lead extraction, sub-cutaneous ICD’s, leadless devices and conduction system pacing.
In addition to cath lab work, there will be opportunities to provide outpatient clinics, support the care of inpatients under the devices team, and to attend and present at the devices and endocarditis MDT’s.
Whilst there is no on-call commitment attached to this post, there will be opportunities to gain experience in general cardiology on-call (consultant level) in a supportive environment.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job will include:
Pacemaker implantation for bradycardia devices, CRT, ICD, CSP, and Micra devices. The department also has an extraction service that the successful candidate can be involved in
Outpatient clinics
Assisting with in-patient management for patients under the care of the device team
Attending and contributing to MDT's
Attending formal cardiology education programmes and conferences as appropriate to level of seniority and training requirements

Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCP or equivalent
- ALS certification
- Eligibility for entry to GMC Specialist Register
- Eligibility for specialist registration with GMC via Certificate of completion of Training (CCT) or CESR
Desirable criteria
- MD/PHd
- Awards/distinctions whilst studying for 1st degree
- Academic and extracurricular achievements
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
Essential criteria
- CMT rotation (or equivalent)
- Training post in cardiology
- Emergency echo skills
- Basic skills coronary angiography
- ECG interpretation
- Management of cardiology patients in acute and chronic disease
- Commitment to training and audit
- Independent operator for bradycardia pacing
Desirable criteria
- Track record in teaching and training
- BSE Accreditation in adult transthoracic
