Band 6
Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for flexible, enthusiastic and committed pharmacists to join our Clinical Team. This post is open to trainee pharmacists due to join the register following 2024 summer exam or qualified pharmacists looking to move Trusts or sectors.
We are very proud of our comprehensive ‘Step-Up’ programme for junior pharmacists, and it produces excellent Advanced Specialist Pharmacists. Individuals equipped with excellent clinical knowledge combined with the skills to apply this in an efficient way; politically astute and able to adapt to the ever changes pressures that working in a 21st century health service will pose. All in all, the rotational ‘Step UP’ Programme at University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust provides a firm launch pad from which you can start and progress your pharmacy career.
The programme allows you to progress, after successful completion of agreed objectives, through the ‘Steps’ from Step1 (newly qualified Band 6) to Step 3 (Band 7) seamlessly utilising a personalised portfolio and the Newly Qualified Pharmacist Pathway.
Newly qualified? Looking for the right way to start your career in hospital pharmacy? Looking for a change? Look no further there’s a Step for you!
Main duties of the job
1. No Hospital Experience? Join our programme, with an extended induction, for pharmacists wanting to make the move from Community to Hospital. This is a structured, supported introduction to hospital practice. Initially the post holder will be based in the dispensaries with part of the day dedicated to clinical pharmacy training at ward level. Following successful completion of the clinical training you will then move onto the ward cover rota and start Step 1 of the programme.
2. Newly Qualified post Hospital Foundation Year? Join the first Step of our ‘Step-Up’ programme. Our rotational training programme offers a comprehensive introduction to hospital pharmacy. Each 4 month rotation provides operational experience in patient services combined with clinical training and bespoke learning outcomes in general specialities such as elderly care, medicine, orthopaedics, respiratory and surgery.
3. 6+ months post registration hospital pharmacy experience? Join the second Step of our ‘Step-Up’ programme. Our rotational programme offers you further comprehensive experience in hospital pharmacy. Each 4-month rotation provides operational experience and extends specialist clinical experience and bespoke learning outcomes to include cardiology, trauma, specialised surgery, acute medicine, and paediatrics. With support towards post-graduate learning; leadership programmes, clinical diploma and independent prescribing.
