Job overview
At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.
In relation to Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker roles, we are currently able to recruit successfully from the domestic labour market and have a sufficient pool of suitably qualified and appointable candidates. As a result, visa sponsorship is not available for this role at this time. This position is kept under regular review and may change in the future should labour market conditions or service requirements alter.

The post holder will be responsible for:
- The primary role of a Senior Clinical Support Worker is to assist, support and work in collaboration with the Registered Nurse and the wider multidisciplinary team; in order to provide a safe and holistic approach to person-centred care
- The Senior Clinical Support Worker should actively contribute to the health and well-being of patients, staff and service users and be able to communicate effectively with sensitivity and compassion.
- They should be able to work independently within their sphere of nursing while under the supervision of registered nurses.
- Senior Clinical Support Workers should demonstrate a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific skills and tasks delegated by the registered nurse and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies at UHNM.
- They will be required to undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent. Key to this role is flexibility with the requirement for staff to work variable shifts over 7 days a week on a week-by-week basis within agreed limits
Main duties of the job

Successful applicants who fulfil the essential qualifications/skills on the person specification/job description will be shortlisted and offered an interview for the Nurse Bank.
- Candidates must have 12 months experience working in a care environment on a professional contract (nursing home etc within the last 5 years)
- UHNM Maths & English condensed test at interview to show evidence of good Literacy and Numeracy level.
- Numeracy/Literacy skills to Level 1 (GCSE Grade 2-3, D-F or equivalent) IELTS or OETS (Overall score of C1) accepted for overseas applicants (Level 7 in Listening/speaking/reading & Level 6.5 in Writing)
- Care Certificate or must complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care/Equivalent qualification or willingness to work towards once in post.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The role of this Senior Clinical Support Worker post is flexible, and the post holder will therefore, be required to provide support over a wide range of service/functions. Key to this flexibility is the requirement for staff to work variable hours on a week by week basis within agreed limits.
The post holder will be required to work according to a locally agreed Code of Conduct for Nursing Assistants.
