About the Role
This hands-on role offers a wide range of tasks, from general repairs and basic fault finding to gardening and decorating. You’ll help keep buildings compliant, functional, and comfortable, working closely with the Estates team in a supportive environment.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and basic fault finding
- Support planned preventative maintenance
- Assist with gardening, decorating, and general upkeep
- Help maintain plant equipment (training provided)
- Carry out basic testing and monitoring tasks
- Support tradespeople with minor works
- Respond to maintenance issues and emergencies
- Follow safety and compliance standard

Education & Qualification
Essential criteria
- NVQ level 2 in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline
- Basic skills in literacy and numeracy
Desirable criteria
- NVQ level 3 in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline
- BAFE certified Fire Equipment Maintenance qualification
- Water Quality Management certified
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working in an engineering and/or building maintenance role
- Maintenance background and skills to carry out minor mechanical / electrical and building repairs
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in an acute hospital environment
- Grounds knowledge/ experience
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Good organisational skills and ability to address and develop solutions to problems
- Adaptable to change
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Organised approach to work
