Main duties of the job

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK with over 12,000 staff. Over the last 5 years we have developed an award-winning Frimley Excellence programme and a culture of continuous improvement across our organisation.

Frimley Excellence includes components of training and capability, large scale project work, deploying our strategy from board to ward and operational management systems. These are delivered and facilitated by our core Team of practitioners (our Centre of Excellence).

As a Frimley Excellence Practitioner, you’ll be a leader in engaging our teams and coaching them to deliver change. You’ll deliver great training, motivate people to use their new skills and support them in managing projects and delivering benefits that add up to outstanding patient care within Frimley Health.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a Frimley Excellence Improvement Practitioner you will provide a key role in developing and delivering our culture of Continuous Improvement across our hospitals, communities and system.

You'll be building capability with our teams through great training delivery, leading and supporting improvement

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Yellow Belt Lean / Six Sigma qualification
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Desirable criteria
  • Green Belt Lean/Six Sigma
  • Post graduate masters qualification from an accredited college or university
  • Prince2 Project Management Qualification
  • Leadership Qualification
  • Formal Coaching Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in developing and coordination of delivery of training in Operational Excellence using a variety of media.
  • Improvement Practitioners will have experience of leading projects which are recognised as being successful and where the project or change management supported the departmental or organisation’s success.
  • Experience of leading a change project in which the change was successful and enduring.
  • Previous experience in methods of improvement and theories of change and experience of at least one Lean based improvement method.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of applying continuous improvement methodologies within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in coaching or mentoring healthcare professionals in the application of improvement activity.
  • Track record of delivering training programmes for a variety of stakeholders and industries
  • Track record of delivering projects within budget
  • Working within a blended learning improvement culture
  • Experience of leading and facilitating Rapid Improvement Events

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Working knowledge of 5S, Rapid Improvement Events, Value Stream mapping, Visual Management, Root Cause Analysis, Error-proofing and other proven improvement approaches.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders to promote the rationale for change and achieve buy in by creating shared commitment and goals for improvement.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills to deliver highly complex, sensitive and contentious corporate messages.
  • Strong facilitation skills with proven ability in leading projects to deliver positive outcomes where there may be significant resistance to change
  • High level of organisational skills to manage and run large scale and highly complex projects, timetables and implementations
  • Ability to break down silos and motivate others
  • High level of skill in using video conferencing for delivery of training.
Desirable criteria
  • Formal coaching qualification
  • Proven ability to develop strategy and translate into actionable plans
  • Design of computer based learning
