We are looking for a reliable and conscientious individual to join the Endoscopy Unit at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, supporting our medical and nursing teams and playing an essential role in the safe decontamination of endoscopes and associated equipment.

A key part of this role is providing a high-quality decontamination service for the Endoscopy Unit, as well as supporting wards, departments and peripheral outpatient clinics across the Trust. You will work as part of a dedicated team, ensuring equipment is processed safely, efficiently and in line with national guidance and Trust procedures.

Main duties of the job

This is an important role where attention to detail, teamwork and a commitment to maintaining high standards are essential. You will also have access to training relevant to your role, alongside the Trust's mandatory training programme.

As an Endoscopy Decontamination Assistant, you will:

• Receive, inspect and prepare used endoscopes and equipment for decontamination, identifying and reporting any defects, damage or discrepancies to the appropriate senior member of staff.
• Manually clean flexible endoscopes in accordance with national decontamination guidance and local Trust procedures.
• Safely load and unload flexible endoscopes from automated washer-disinfectors, reporting any faults or concerns promptly.
• Carry out routine water testing and sampling in accordance with departmental procedures and national guidance, escalating any issues appropriately.
• Identify damaged endoscopes and ensure they are referred to the appropriate manufacturer or service provider for repair.
• Complete endoscope tracking documentation and maintain accurate records of decontamination activity.
• Dispose of clinical and household waste and linen safely and appropriately.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment, including daily cleaning of workstations.
• Work collaboratively with nursing, medical and decontamination colleagues to support the smooth and safe operation of the Endoscopy Unit.
• Undertake all training relevant to the role and complete Trust-wide mandatory training as required.
