Job overview

·         Responsible for materials management purchasing, distribution and put away services supporting clinical divisions Trust wide

·         Maintaining a supportive relationship with all customer areas to ensure that stock levels are optimised.

·         Ensure good logistics practices is maintained across sites

·         Ensuring all activity complies with the requirements of HPL policies and procedures

·         Management of the Materials Management Officers and Goods in Supervisor, Logistics Officers

·         Achieving savings towards Cost Improvement Program (CIP)

Main duties of the job

The postholder will work to provide a high quality, efficient and cost-effective procurement logistics function that meets the requirements of HPL and the Trust’s overall strategic direction and complies with SFI’s, relevant procurement legislation and guidance, to operationally manage the Supply Chain and Logistics Teams across sites

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·         Professional and customer focused replenishment service to user departments through the local Supply Chain and Logistics Team.

·         Ensure the team is well trained and has the resources to maintain an effective replenishment process and cost-effective stock levels.

·         Maintain effective relationships with all key stakeholders.

·         Assist in management of the NHS Supply Chain supplier account

·         Responsible for any site-based logistics risk management activity

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3.         KEY RESULT AREAS/MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Leadership

·         In conjunction with the department management team, plan and distribute all work activities to the Supplies and Logistics Team for their respective site.

·         To oversee and co-ordinate the work of the site Supplies and Logistics Team so as to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.

·         To monitor site activity making adjustments to workloads as necessary and provide regular performance reports as required.

·         To provide support and guidance to the Materials Management Representatives, Logistics supervisor and Logistics Officer.

·         To coach the site Supply Chain and Logistics Team on technical/operational aspects of the service.

·         To participate in training and development sessions/team meetings as required. Conduct appraisals, performance reviews and one-to-ones for all Supplies and Logistics Team staff.

·         Report on absenteeism, authorize holidays and ensure the well-being and work-life balance of all site Supply Chain and Logistics Team staff.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Foundation Diploma from Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or significant experience in stores operations or materials management systems

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proficient knowledge of stock replenishment systems
  • Competent in operating computerised stock ordering systems
  • Thorough understanding of concept of supply chain management
  • Knowledge of non-medical and medical products
