Job overview

You will provide initial assessment of people referred to the service, and deliver the initial treatment pathway as well as providing specialist psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions in line with evidence based treatment protocols. Clinical interventions will be provided to outpatients at individual and group level. The role also involves assessing and reviewing on our ARFID pathway.

You will be contributing to multi-disciplinary reviews of outpatients and be actively involved in the development and implementation of agreed care plans. You will participate in service-related activity including research, service evaluation and audit activities in addition to the supervision of other grades of staff as required. You will need to be knowledgeable of the Access and Waiting Times agenda and the New Care Models ideology for SABP and oversee the KPI’s against these remits alongside the other senior clinicians.

The post-holder will support the psychology team and the wider MDT through support with clinical risk management, audit, service evaluation and research. It is therefore essential that you can demonstrate both ability for autonomous thinking and team work.

We are based in Epsom however are looking to start a hub in Aldershot in 2024 to allow more accessibility to our young people and families.  

Flexible and part time hours will also be considered.

 

Main duties of the job

The Surrey-wide Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder Service [CEDS] is based in Epsom, and provides effective care, treatment and support to young people up to 18 years old across Surrey.  You will work alongside your other MDT colleagues as well as the growing psychology team and be expected to support the clinical team in continuing to deliver the NHS England Access and Waiting Times targets. You will complete assessments and contribute to the treatment/ care plans for the young people, working as part of the whole system of multi-agency working.

Promoting a psychological perspective both within teams and sharing with other colleagues, including collaborative working with team managers/ Clinical leads in the development and delivering of effective services.

The postholder will be expected to work flexibly within the service. To lead on complex and challenging cases and develop expertise within area of specialism

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology qualification or equivalent
  • Current practicing certificate
  • Completion of an appropriate clinical supervision course to enable supervision of trainees (or completion within 12 months of commencement in post)
  • HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with people from across the life span with a range of mental health issues and cognitive profiles
  • Experience across a range of psychological models including systemic, behavioural and individual therapeutic
  • Specialist understanding of the impact of language, culture, gender, ethnicity & disability in shaping attitudes, abilities & difficulties
  • Specialist understanding of the importance of professional boundaries and how to manage & maintain them
  • Experience of contributing to clinical practice/service development / project work.
  • Experience of supervising assistant and trainee clinical psychologists
