Are you an experienced Neonatal Nurse looking to take the next step in your career? We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, motivated, and enthusiastic nurse to join our dedicated Neonatal team at Frimley Park Hospital in a senior leadership role.

Our Neonatal Unit is committed to delivering outstanding, evidence-based care with a strong focus on clinical excellence, developmental care, and family integrated care to achieve the very best outcomes for babies and their families.

We are seeking a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to become part of our friendly and supportive leadership team. Working alongside the Matron for Neonatal Services, Senior Sister, and fellow Junior Sisters, you will play a key role in providing visible leadership, supporting staff development, and helping to maintain the highest standards of neonatal care.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your leadership skills within a progressive and compassionate neonatal service, while making a meaningful difference to the lives of babies and their families every day.

Main duties of the job

  • Co-ordinate and manage the unit in the absence of Senior Sister.   
  • Act as a resource in Neonatal nursing care.   
  • Provide quality care for the babies and their families.   
  • Teach and develop more junior staff.
  • Deliver highly specialised Neonatal care, which includes intensive and high dependency care. 
  • To provide specialist knowledge to ensure a practical and safe working environment and make appropriate changes.  
  • Act as a resource for nursing and medical staff to ensure appropriate Neonatal nursing care.  
  • The ability to provide nursing care for all neonates whatever their needs without direct supervision.  
  • To ensure complete and safe record keeping complying with Neonatal, Trust Policies and national guidance.  
  • To facilitate early discharge planning with the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC Registration.
  • Registered RN/RN child, RM or RSCN.
  • Neonatal specialist training ENB 405 or equivalent.
  • Children’s safeguarding training level 2.
Desirable criteria
  • NLS qualification
  • Children’s safeguarding training level 3

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical practice in Neonatal nursing experience.
  • Neonatal Toolkit experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Management experience

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Computer literacy and numeracy.
  • Teaching Skills.
  • Clinical Audit Skills.
  • Evidence of leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of current issues in Neonatology.
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of specific needs of local population.
  • Neonatal networks.
