Join Our Dedicated Healthcare Team – Make a Real Difference

We are currently looking to recruit a Porter to support and assist the Fracture Clinic, Plaster Room and General Out-Patients Departments.

The hours are 37.5 per week. Working Monday to Friday, 09:00hrs to 17:30hrs (excluding Bank Holidays) to cover the core opening hours of the departments. Hours can be slightly flexible and can be discussed with the successful candidates shortlisted for the interview.

Main duties of the job

Provide a highly professional and customer focussed service to all patients, staff and visitors in the Fracture Clinic, Plaster Room and Out-Patient departments based at Frimley Park Hospital. You will be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team with a friendly and efficient manner, whilst maintaining high standards of patient care.
To transport patients to different departments within the hospital in a timely and safe, courteous manner. You will be a point of contact to all visitors to the departments and assist in directing them as required.

 You will also be required to perform non-patient related jobs, e.g. CSSD deliveries and collections; Postal deliveries and collections; Furniture moves; Medical gas cylinder exchanges; Attend emergency calls within the Out-Patient setting to ensure all essential equipment is available; Deliver Pathology samples to the lab; Deliver dirty and collect clean, Urology  and ENT scopes twice daily; to name but a few.

Essential criteria
  • Good education to GCSE standard or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Previous experience of working within a team as well as the ability to work alone

  • Previous experience in a similar role

  • Good communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally, and in writing in the English language.
  • Flexible approach to work with the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

Special Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Due to the nature of the role, the post holder must be physically fit and have the ability to move and lift heavy objects e.g. beds, wheelchairs, furniture. Often within confined spaces.

  • Able to adapt to the service requirements and work under pressure.
