Employer heading
Consultant in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery
Consultant
Job overview
The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, for 8 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week, to substantiate a long term locum position. With the development of the Royal Surrey Cancer and Surgical Innovation Centre (CASIC- due to open in May 2026) there may be scope to convert the role to a full time post in the future.
The post has been created to ensure the high quality provision of oncoplastic services at the Royal Surrey, which will include supporting cancer diagnostic and treatment pathways, as well as supporting the perforator flap service within the department.
Main duties of the job
The role will involve undertaking both general theatre and outpatient clinics at the Royal Surrey, as well as specialised clinics (including supporting the regional gene carrier service) and providing oncological input to the autologous reconstruction service at Queen Victoria Hospital.
The post holder will support the department to deliver the outstanding care we strive to achieve including achieving bench marked cancer wait times, GIRFT metrics, the Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance MDT QA targets and patient reported outcomes in the National Cancer Experience Survey. Support will be given to contribute to ongoing service improvement projects and to broaden the department’s involvement in research activity, both NIHR portfolio studies and locally set up and delivered studies. Mentoring and peer support will be available for any new colleague as they settle into their role within the department. There is no expectation for the successful candidate to support the General Surgical On Call.

We are proud of our achievements and we are investing in our colleagues through our commitment to supporting professional development as well as investing more than £45 million in our physical environment and new equipment in the next few years. There has never been a better time to join us.
Although it isn't the Trusts normal practice, adverts may close early, so you are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible.
