Would you like to work with a friendly and dynamic Research and Development Team contributing to the development of research at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust?

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Research & Development Team as an R&D Administrator.

Within our Research Department we facilitate a large number of both commercial and non-commercial research studies across a wide range of specialities.

Main duties of the job

As the R&D Administrator you will work closely with the other members of the team to ensure a smooth running of the office. You will be the first point of contact for initial enquiries to the R&D office and will assist the R&D Governance team with the study amendments and keeping the research database Edge up to date. Along with general office duties you will assist the communications officer with the maintenance of the website and research based communications internally within the Trust as well as externally.

You will have excellent communication, admin and IT skills. You will work within the guidelines and policies for the conduct of clinical trials, ensuring high standards of practice in accordance with Good Clinical Practice.

To provide administrative office support for the RD&I department

JOB SUMMARY
 
To provide a high quality and efficient administration service for the RD & I team. The post holder would be expected to support the RD&I department with procurement and maintenance of the electronic research database and applicable online systems. To act as a first point of contact to staff and visitors to the department, supporting the service as required and working as part of the administration team ensuring an effective and efficient administration service.

  • Facilitate all processes relating to proactive communications across the Research Department

•    Be the first contact for initial enquiries providing a timely response and relevant guidance and where applicable documents for completion to support the resolution of the enquiry via the generic email inbox, telephone and in person
•    Managing the Research & Development generic email account
•    Managing calendar and booking appointments for senior members of the Research Development & Innovation team 
•    Supporting training administration, including preparation of materials, issuing of certificates, taking and confirming attendee bookings, room bookings for applicable training courses. Administration related to the Web-based Research database, Edge. To include, but not limited to, ensuring study status is up to date, uploading documents, granting access to new users, completing attributes and workflows.
•    Administration related to applicable Web-based electronic systems.
•    Assisting the R&D Communications Officer with administration relating to all public relations and marketing.
•    Assisting the R&D Communications Officer with  the maintenance of the RD&I website, ensuring that all information is current and up to date.
•    Liaising with the trust communications team and other departments in relation to PR.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ 3 level education or equivalent
  • RSA II standard word processing/audio typing skills
Desirable criteria
  • Secretarial qualification (e.g. BSMS or AMSPAR)
  • Certificate in Good Clinical Practice

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in busy NHS environment
  • Experience of dealing with the general public
  • Experience of working in a complex organisation
  • Previous secretarial or administrative experience
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of dealing with the pharmaceutical companies
