Job overview
We are seeking a reliable and flexible Kitchen Porter to join our Catering Team. The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week on a rota basis, covering shifts between 07:00–15:00, 10:00–18:30, and 11:30–20:00. Shift patterns may vary from week to week and will be published at least three weeks in advance. Weekend working will also be required.
The primary responsibilities of the role include maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen, cleaning kitchen equipment, and operating commercial dishwashers to wash crockery, cutlery, pots, and pans.
Additional duties will include working on the patient meal service belt, assisting with the plating of meals, cleaning meal trolleys, replenishing cleaning supplies, and collecting stock from stores. On occasion, you may be required to support the Catering Assistant team by preparing salads, sandwiches, fruit salads, and assisting chefs with basic food preparation.
You will be expected to comply with all food safety policies, procedures, and relevant legislation. Previous catering experience would be desirable but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
The successful candidate will be committed to delivering a high-quality, professional service at all times and will demonstrate a positive and customer-focused approach when supporting staff, patients, and visitors.
