You will ensure a high quality service is maintained at all times. The HSDU provides a vital support service with the decontamination of medical devices to the theatres, endoscopy and external customers.

The HSDU has two units, A Sterile Services Department (HSDU) and a Endoscopy Department based at East Surrey Hospital; The role of the Sterile Services Technician is to ensure that we provide an outstanding service by ensure the safe decontamination of re-usable medical devices from the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust’s Sterile Services Department. The department also has to meet the standards ISO 13485:2016 as well as meeting the requirements on the Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EEC.

As a Technician your role will be one that requires a methodical and accurate approach to the production of theatre trays and procedure packs containing surgical instrumentation and reprocessing endoscopes. Adherence to departmental standards and procedures is essential.
