Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Divisional Director for Surgery to provide strong operational and strategic leadership across the Division. Working in close partnership with the Divisional Chief of Service, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality, clinically sound patient services that are cost-effective and aligned with the Trust’s priorities, performance standards and strategic objectives.

The Divisional Director will provide visible and effective leadership at Divisional level, ensuring that robust systems and processes are in place to enable staff to deliver consistently high standards of clinical care. The role requires the ability to balance long-term strategic planning with the day-to-day operational demands of a complex surgical division, driving service improvement, efficiency and operational effectiveness.

This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for translating strategy into operational delivery, ensuring excellent patient outcomes and sustainable performance.

The post holder will develop and implement plans to deliver relevant Trust objectives, while monitoring and managing performance to ensure patient-centred services are of a consistently high quality. They will provide leadership and management to direct and indirect reports, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
