Job overview

This is a new 12 month Fixed Term post required to expand the current Hepatology services in the Slough area.

The new Slough Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) is a state-of-the-art facility designed to provide high-quality diagnostic services to the local community.

With an investment of £25 million, the CDC is equipped with the latest technology, including MRI and CT scanners, and offers up to 150,000 extra tests per year.

Located centrally in Slough, the CDC aims to reduce health inequalities by making diagnostic care easily accessible to diverse communities.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will develop a Nurse led clinic to help improve early liver detection, namely related to alcohol related liver disease and metabolic dysfunction-associated Steatotic liver disease. 

Patients would have been referred by primary care. The post holder will be trained to undertake Fibroscans™ and subsequently run independent scanning clinics, requesting relevant further investigations if needed, attending multidisciplinary team meetings as required, and discharging patients with robust management plans when appropriate.

PURPOSE OF JOB:

·     To work as an autonomous Clinical Nurse Specialist within the Hepatology service, specialising in liver disease, providing expert and complex care advice, clinical care, education, advice and support for individuals and their carers through the development and provision of nurse led clinics.

By working collaboratively within multi-professional teams, the Nurse Specialist will maintain effective communication systems especially with all other healthcare staff within the Trust responsible for the care of Hepatology, delivering timely and appropriate information in line with current best practice.

This job description is an indication of the type and range of tasks that are expected of the post holder, and other duties may be required, in line with the role and the banding.  It will be reviewed and amended from time to time in consultation with the post holder to take account of changing organisational need.
