Our department, based at Frimley Park Hospital, works across a range of specialities which include: Acute & Elderly Care Medicine, A&E, Stroke, Orthopaedics & Surgery. 

Main duties of the job

  • To provide excellent, high-quality person-centred clinical care that advocates for patients, strive to provide a service fit for today and the future, develop personal leadership to support clinical growth.
  • The post is a key part of the OT service, and is responsible for undertaking patient facing, equipment, housekeeping, and administrative duties. It also involves liaison with outside agencies and patients’ families so excellent communication skills are essential.
  • The post is based at Wexham Park Hospital. Our teams have a friendly, supportive atmosphere and a real team ethic. We know how to look after our staff - making sure they achieve the ideal work-life balance. As a Trust we also participate in care certificate and apprentice programmes. In addition, we offer excellent training opportunities supported by an APH practice development lead and clinical flow lead.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE / equivalent in Maths and English level c or above
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ in OT or relevant care areas

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Basic knowledge of health legislation in current practice and clinical governance.
  • Understanding the OT role within the MDT.
  • Ability to work single handedly with individuals and groups
  • Efective written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literate
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice.
  • Health and safety legislation related to adaptive equipment.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working as an OT Assistant
  • Customer care training or awareness
  • Basic teaching methods for practical tasks.
  • Standard operating procedure on infection control.
Desirable criteria
  • Work with wheelchairs/adaptive equipment.
  • Training and facilitation skills.
  • Use of the Tiara Therapy Computer system.
