Job overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and dependable individual to join our Sterile Services Department as a Bank Sterile Services Technician based at Wexham Park Hospital. You will be part of a vital team responsible for the cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilisation of surgical instruments and medical equipment used throughout the Trust.

Working within a busy, high-performing department, you will follow strict infection control and decontamination procedures to ensure all instruments are processed to the highest quality and safety standards. Attention to detail, good manual dexterity, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential.

As part of the Bank team, to provide flexible cover supporting the department.  Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.

Main duties of the job

To undertake decontamination science duties and assist colleagues and Supervisors in providing a specialised decontamination of medical devices service contributing to the clinical care of the patient.

To carry out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing and sterilization of reusable medical devices. Record all tasks in the Healthcare Science Information Systems (tracking and tracing) database.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To undertake decontamination science duties and assist colleagues and Supervisors in providing a specialised decontamination of medical devices service contributing to the clinical care of the patient.

To carry out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing and sterilization of reusable medical devices. Record all tasks in the Healthcare Science Information Systems (tracking and tracing) database.

Work in accordance with the Department’s standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management Systems under limited supervision to meet the demands of the Department’s workload whilst consistently achieving high quality standards which will be measured by in-process checks and non-conformance reports.

Desirable criteria
  • NVQ3 (Technical Certificate Decontamination) or equivalent level of knowledge and experience through decontamination training
