Job overview

 An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Practitioner within The Childrens Community Learning Disability and Behaviour Support Service in North Cumbria, who provide a children’s learning disability community nursing service along with an Early Intervention Service for Children with a Learning Disability and or Autism (age 2-11 years) who present with Behaviour which may challenge. The post will work across North Cumbria  and will be based in Carlisle.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated, inspirational candidate who is committed to delivering a high-quality service. They will have skills and knowledge in working with children with a learning disability, Positive Behaviour Support, Autism, anxiety and mental health difficulties. They will have excellent communication skills and good interpersonal skills as the service works collaboratively with other health partners and the third sector to deliver the care to our families. They will be able to demonstrate their personal alignment with the Trust Values.

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • First Level Registered Nurse RNMH, RMN, RNLD or; other registered health & social care qualification (social worker / allied health professional)
  • Mentorship Training
  • 12 to 24 month band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need.
Desirable criteria
  • Post Registration Qualifications in Psychological Interventions Experience of working within a community team. Non-Medical Prescribing

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Proven ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex mental health needs.
  • Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of effective & appropriate treatment options including a range of evidence based clinical approaches as identified in N.I.C.E. Guidance).
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical Leadership.
  • Delegation skills.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post
  • Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
  • Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within a community team.
