Job overview
To assist the Sector site manager with the day to day operational responsibility for a range of Soft FM services covering hospital sites and community premises within one of the 4 sectors associated with NTW NHSFT (The Trust). These Soft FM services may include the following departments: Soft FM; Catering, Cafes, Domestic Services, Laundry & linen, Portering, transport, security, Waste, switchboard, receptions, store.
Main duties of the job
Managing and co-ordinating all aspects of an effective operational Facilities team who are responsible for duties, including cleaning of wards and general areas; regenerating food for our patients; collection of clinical and non-clinical waste, Portering, Catering, Cafes, Laundry & linen, transport, security, switchboard, receptions and store services.

Please note that the above advertised salary will not apply if you choose to remain on AfC. Anyone currently paying into the NHS Pension scheme will be able to retain this.

Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- In-depth knowledge of Food Hygiene Legislation, Health and Safety, COSHH and Risk Assessment is required. A practical and in-depth appreciation of Hazard Analysis/Risk Assessments
- Good communication skills for dealing with staff, patients and public
- High level of literacy and numeracy skills
- Report writing and verbal communication skills
- Good general IT skills (Word, Excel & Power Point)
Desirable criteria
- A working knowledge of the framework within the NHS for the management of Facilities within the built environment
- An excellent understanding of Soft FM functions within a health care environment
- Training, delivery, communication and assessment skills
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience working within a facilities service
- Experience of managing soft FM services and working in compliance with health and safety legislation in relation to Facilities services
- Experience in managing staff groups and teams
Desirable criteria
- Experience of quality control systems
Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Ordinary National Certificate (ONC) in a Facilities Management subject or an equivalent technical qualification in a related field.
- Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate or Diploma or will be required to obtain one within first 6 months of appointment
Desirable criteria
- Affiliate membership (or working towards Membership) of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM)
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
