Job overview
Band 7 Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist
The post holder will provide specialist psychoanalytic child psychotherapy assessment and treatment to children, young people and their families and carers across clinical pathways within CAMHS. The post holder will be required to provide initial CAMHS assessments, offering consultation and supervision as appropriate to colleagues, within and external to the organisation in accordance with best practice. There will be a requirement for audit and research activities to enhance service development. The post holder will be working within guidelines set out by the Association for Child Psychotherapy whist adhering to Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust policies and procedures.
Main duties of the job
- To provide efficient, effective, comprehensive specialist child and adolescent psychoanalytical psychotherapy assessment and treatment for children, young people and their families.
- To support and/or provide specialist supervision and consultation for multi-disciplinary teams within CAMHS clinical pathways and to other related staff and agencies in health, education, social services, voluntary sector, and youth support service.
- To undertake clinical audit, research and evaluation and to contribute to the development of child psychotherapy within the organisation as required.
- To work as an autonomous clinician within ACP guidelines and the overall framework of CAMHS and trust policies and procedures.
- To work within clinical pathways and MDT forums to inform clinical decision making within a psychotherapeutic framework.
- To collect and analyse data regarding referrals and outcomes in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment offered.

You will be a qualified psychotherapist with current registration with the ACP professional body. You will hold a caseload of young people with complex mental health needs and will take responsibility for providing assessments and therapeutic treatment programmes.
