Occupational Therapist - Rotation
NHS AfC: Band 5
Come and join us
We’re looking for people who share our values of compassion, accountability and optimism to help us provide high quality care for the patients, carers, families and communities we serve. We specialise in NHS mental health and learning disability services and we’re proud to make a difference every day.
At SPFT we put people first. We’ll do everything possible to help you feel respected, valued and included. You’ll have opportunities to learn, grow and gain new experiences to support your career, with access to lifelong learning and professional development.
We actively promote flexible working and understand how important work life balance is, especially in healthcare. Whether it’s part time hours, hybrid working or flexible start and finish times, we’ll explore what works for you and the role.
We recognise that AI is becoming part of daily life and you may choose to use it to help prepare your application. We welcome innovation but ask that anything you submit reflects your own abilities, experience and voice. AI can support how you describe your skills and experience, but it should never replace your own words as we want to get to know you.
We’re shaping a workplace where ideas are encouraged, technology supports you and everyone has a voice in how we improve. If that sounds like the kind of organisation you want to be part of, we’d love to hear from you.
Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Band 5 Occupational Therapy (OT) rotation in our Crawley area. This is a mixed rotational scheme offering mental health rotations at Langley Green Hospital with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, with additional options for physical health rotations with Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust. Each rotation is 6 months in length and provides great opportunities for skills and competencies development.
The rotation is open to new OT graduates, final year OT students, and more experienced OTs who wish to broaden their clinical skills in new areas of practice. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated occupational therapists, who have a drive for clinical excellence working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
The rotation offers mental health and physical health rotations in a variety of settings across north West Sussex.
Mental Health rotations include:
- Older Adults Acute Mental Health
- Working Age Acute Mental Health
- Mental Health PICU (Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit)
Physical Health rotations include:
- Community Therapy Team
- Inpatient Rehabilitation Services
Please note interviews will be held in person.
Main duties of the job
This rotation offers the chance to consolidate your knowledge and develop OT specific and generic skills that are transferable across teams and service user groups. You will gain a range of mental health and physical health experiences in hospital-based and community settings. You will receive full support as we encourage development of your core OT skills within well-established therapy teams. We are looking for someone who will make the most of the opportunities this role provides, and who can foster effective working relationships with professionals and with service users.
You will assess and deliver evidence-based OT interventions that optimise independent functioning in self-care, productivity and leisure activities, and facilitate wellbeing from an occupational perspective.
Interventions take place on the hospital ward, and in home environments and community settings, with flexibility of working required to meet service user needs.
We are dedicated to providing exceptional care and there is an expectation to be involved in service improvement projects happening within our teams. As well as developing new skills, we look to the innovation and dynamism you can bring.
Please note that we welcome applications from students who are awaiting their HCPC registration (please declare in your application that you are qualified and awaiting your registration).
