Senior Project Manager (Capital Projects)

NHS AfC: Band 8a

Come and join us

We’re looking for people who share our values of compassion, accountability and optimism to help us provide high quality care for the patients, carers, families and communities we serve. We specialise in NHS mental health and learning disability services and we’re proud to make a difference every day.

At SPFT we put people first. We’ll do everything possible to help you feel respected, valued and included. You’ll have opportunities to learn, grow and gain new experiences to support your career, with access to lifelong learning and professional development.

We actively promote flexible working and understand how important work life balance is, especially in healthcare. Whether it’s part time hours, hybrid working or flexible start and finish times, we’ll explore what works for you and the role.

We recognise that AI is becoming part of daily life and you may choose to use it to help prepare your application. We welcome innovation but ask that anything you submit reflects your own abilities, experience and voice. AI can support how you describe your skills and experience, but it should never replace your own words as we want to get to know you.

We’re shaping a workplace where ideas are encouraged, technology supports you and everyone has a voice in how we improve. If that sounds like the kind of organisation you want to be part of, we’d love to hear from you.

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced client-side Estates Senior Project Manager to join the Programmes & Projects team within the Estates & Facilities Division at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. This role offers the chance to play a pivotal part in shaping the future of mental health care environments, directly contributing to patient recovery and well-being.

Reporting to the Head of the Estates PMO, you will be integral to the successful delivery of key projects within the Trust’s Capital Programme, managing a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from £50k refurbishments to £10m+ capital developments. You will oversee estates projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Main duties of the job

Working across the Trust, you will engage with internal teams, Trust stakeholders, external design teams, project professionals, and construction contractors, ensuring smooth collaboration and adherence to agreed specifications, timelines, and financial controls. This role spans a variety of healthcare settings, including live inpatient wards, rehabilitation houses, and community buildings, requiring sensitivity to working in complex environments.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Estates Project Manager with a construction industry recognised qualification, has working knowledge of HTM's & HBN's related to Mental Health and a minimum of 3 years experience in a health care setting. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in design, construction, and strategic project management, with the ability to navigate stakeholder engagement and the challenges of healthcare environments.

This is a fantastic opportunity for career growth, providing exposure to high-value, meaningful projects and the chance to make a real impact in improving mental health facilities for those who need them most.

If you are ready for a varied and fulfilling role and want to be part of a forward-thinking team dedicated to delivering exceptional healthcare spaces, we would love to hear from you.
