We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual who can work as part of a team and on their own initiative to join our Lead Cancer team as Assistant MDT Coordinators here at BTHFT. 

Main duties of the job

 

The post holder will play a pivotal role in the administrative support of cancer services, by providing a high standard of administrative assistance. They will liaise with the fast-track team to ensure all suspected cancer referrals (plus other referrals connected to the Cancer Waiting Times targets) are captured on the Patient Pathway Management (PPM) system. The post holder will then support the MDT Coordinators in managing the patient’s pathway from 1st seen appointment throughout.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Supporting the MDTs with data collection and preparation of patient data, ensuring reports and all other necessary information is available in readiness for weekly MDT meetings.

 To assist with all post-MDT administrative duties

 Support Clinical Service Units optimise cancer patient’s journey here at BTHFT and external trusts should a referral be made.

  To assist with the monitoring of patient pathways in line with the CWT guidance to ensure all relevant Cancer Targets are met.    

  Maintain an up to date and accurate record on the Cancer tracking system.

 Provide cross cover for colleagues during periods of annual leave.


To support the MDT Co-Ordinators with accurate data entry as required.

 Communicate effectively within the Cancer Pathway Team and wider organisation.

  To be responsible for correlating and checking daily reports and escalating issues and concerns where necessary.


To actively participate in the annual appraisal process and work towards achieving yearly objectives.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of managing confidential patient information
  • Relevant experience of working within a team or independently
  • Experience or working towards and achieving deadlines
  • Experience of the Cancer Waiting Times standards
  • Experience of understanding complex and sensitive information
  • Experience of undertaking audits and analysing the results to produce comprehensive meaningful reports and action plans
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant administrative experience in the NHS

  • Excellent communication skills – able to demonstrate effective listening, verbal and written skills
