Research Management and Conduct

• Identification of research questions / needs in collaboration with academic and local authority colleagues
• Organisation and management of research in progress
• Involvement in the preparation of documentation for ethics committee approval (if required)
• Development of research procedures and documentation
• Communication with colleagues and other staff throughout the research
• Undertaking quantitative and qualitative data collection using a range of methods
• Reporting of project progress and results
• Management of data
• Management and analysis of a range of qualitative and quantitative data
• Conducting qualitative interviews with social care providers, older people and their carers

Communication

• Establish and maintain good working relationships with range of stakeholders, including academic and local authority colleagues, social care practitioners, home care providers and service users
• Preparation, submission and revision of publications for peer-reviewed academic journals with the support of the academic team
• Preparation and dissemination of research findings via poster and oral presentation locally, nationally and internationally
• Preparation and dissemination of information to social care forums and lay groups
• Supporting the production of guidance for social care services based on research findings
• Communication with other researchers and social care colleagues

Other duties

• Act as a research resource for local inexperienced researchers, e.g. students and early career researchers and local authority colleagues
• Act as a ‘linking pin’ to foster collaborative working relationships across academic and social care sectors, and to identify research opportunities, including training and support which will benefit social care colleagues to develop research skills / knowledge
• Assist in the development of research protocols
• Ensure that research is undertaken in full compliance with UK GCP guidelines and in accord with local and national research governance, and other legislation relevant to the population
