Job overview

The bowel screening service addresses the needs of individuals aged between 50 and 75 who have an abnormal test result from a home screening kit. 

We are seeking a part time administrator to support the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) as part of a team at the Bath, Swindon and Wiltshire Bowel Cancer Screening Centre which is based across three sites – Royal United Hospital, Bath - Great Western Hospital, Swindon - and Salisbury District Hospital, Salisbury. 

This post will be based at Salisbury District Hospital working on Thursday-Friday 08.30-16.30. Additional hours may be available to cover annual leave/absences within the team.

Main duties of the job

  • To maintain the BCSP and associated services databases.  Responsible for inputting and amending data accurately and securely.  To attend training course on the Bowel Cancer Screening Software.
  • Using the relevant computer system to input and retrieve patient information.
  • Update hospital PAS and endoscopy systems, discussing waiting list issues as necessary and identifying medically urgent patients and potentially long waiters, ensuring that all patients are booked within national guidelines as per Somerset Cancer Register.
