Are you a passionate and skilled Chef looking for a rewarding role within the NHS? Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Catering Services team, delivering high-quality, nutritious meals to patients, visitors and staff.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a large-scale production kitchen that prepares fresh, traditional meals using locally sourced ingredients. Our catering team provides a vital service across the Trust, producing meals for patients as well as supporting two busy on-site restaurants.
The successful candidate will be a dedicated team player with previous experience working in a busy kitchen environment. You will be committed to delivering excellent food quality and customer service while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
Working hours are 37.5 hours per week on a rota basis, working 5 days out of 7 between Monday and Sunday. Shifts operate between 6:00am and 7:00pm and include weekends and Bank Holidays.
You will join a supportive and professional Catering team and report directly to the Head Chef.
Main duties of the job
As a Chef within Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality meals for patients, staff and visitors in accordance with Trust standards and nutritional requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and cooking a variety of fresh meals using approved recipes and menus.
- Ensuring food is prepared and served to the highest standards of quality, safety and presentation.
- Supporting the delivery of patient meals, including special dietary requirements.
- Maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety at all times.
- Monitoring food storage, stock rotation and temperature control procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with food safety legislation, allergen management and Trust policies.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to provide an efficient and effective catering service.
- Contributing to menu development and continuous service improvement initiatives.
- Supporting the training and development of junior team members where appropriate.
