Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Cashier based in the Cashiers Office at Great Western Hospital. The position will form part of a small team who support each other with the provision of Cashiering Services and other key administrative and financial support to our colleagues, patients and carers.
We strive to ensure our knowledge is up to date to provide excellent Customer Service at all times.
The role involves communicating with all stakeholders face to face, electronically and by telephone.
Main duties of the job
To Support the Team in the performing, training and monitoring of cashiering functions carried out throughout all sites of the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust including design and implementation of processes, ensuring compliance with the Trust Standard Financial Instructions, Scheme of Delegation, Department Of Health Hospital Travel Scheme and Trust/Cashiering procedures, providing support, training and on-going advice to employees at all levels to resolve/respond to their enquiries.
To Support the Team in the processing of Charitable Funds income, administration and reconciliation of the bank account.
To Support the Overseas Visitors & Cashiers Manager with the administration of Overseas Patients

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Dealing with customers at the Cashier’s office in relation to paying in income, issuing Petty cash, Overseas Visitors and general enquiries.
2. Reconciling and updating systems with income received at GWH and at various sites within the Community.
3. Monitor cashiering/banking activities carried out throughout the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust sites to ensure they comply with the Trust cashiering processes/procedures, SFIs and Scheme of Delegation and that appropriate processes are followed by external providers of cash collection service
4. Issue, reconciliation and updating systems with Petty Cash transactions in line with Trust policy and procedures at GWH and various Trust sites.
5. Administration of Overseas Visitors processes and procedures including invoicing and debt chasing of appropriate patients identified by the Trust, ensure processes comply with current guidance and regulation. Deal with queries from both patients and various agencies including DOH and Border Agency
6. Providing back up to the Overseas & Cashier Manager as appropriate and covering key tasks of the role in their absence.
7. Updating of procedures relating to the Cashier’s service and Overseas Visitors as required
8. Archiving of documentation efficiently in accordance with the Trust guidelines.
9. To liaise with Shared Business Services to ensure the integrity of the Trust’s cashiering processes regarding receipting issues and unallocated cash and Overseas Debt
10. Processing HC5 travel claims and ensuring that appropriate payments are made
11. To process payment requests and manual payments in the absence of the Assistant Financial Accountant

- Qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience

- AAT qualified

- Experience of computerised accounting systems and good IT skills, including spread sheets
