Meet and Greet Volunteer (UTC)
Voluntary
Job overview
This important role will require the volunteer to welcome patients as they arrive at the Urgent Treatment Centre and help to guide them within the department by pointing out the kiosks for self-check-in or the front desk for face-to-face assistance. Some patients may need to be directed to other areas across the hospital or kindly redirect anyone who may have come to the wrong location. As some people might feel a bit anxious, the volunteer will be required to offer reassurance.
Your support will greatly enhance the patient experience in our department. By offering a warm and compassionate welcome, guiding them throughout their visit, and helping to ease their anxiety, you can make a challenging time feel a little less stressful for both patients and their visitors.
Main duties of the job
· Meeting and greeting patients and visitors to the Urgent Treatment Centre.
· Directing patients to use the self-check-in kiosks, in order to take pressure off staff on the front desk.
· Directing visitors and patients within the department.
· Providing a wayfinding services, to support people to navigate their way to other departments across the hospital.
· Calling porters for wheelchair assistance to transfer patients, when required.
Working for our organisation
Our Voluntary Workforce
The Newcastle Hospitals Trust values the involvement of local people as volunteers in activities that enhance the patient, visitor and carer experience, and also support staff in delivering high quality health care.
Your offer of voluntary help is very much appreciated, and you will receive a warm welcome no matter which area of volunteering you choose.
Without our volunteers, we wouldn't be able to deliver the 'outstanding' care and service that we do today.
Important note on completion of the application form

PLEASE NOTE: That we cannot accept references from Friends or Family members.

If you already hold an enhanced DBS and it is registered on the DBS Update Service, then you will need to provide evidence and present your original DBS certificate to the Volunteer Services Team during your ID check appointment.
