Radiology Transportation Volunteer

In this role, you will provide vital logistical support to the Radiology Department by transporting patients in wheelchairs between their wards and imaging areas. By ensuring patients arrive promptly for their appointments, you directly enhance their care experience, minimise stressful wait times, and help the clinical team deliver treatments more efficiently.

The difference your contribution will make to the service
• Reduce inpatient waiting times within the Radiology department.
• Help to speed up patient discharge times and free up hospital beds, if patients are only waiting on imaging prior to discharge.
• Increase productivity within Radiology department.
• Improving patient experience, reducing the delays to their treatment.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

• Escorting and transporting wheelchair-bound patients safely between wards, specific hospital departments, and the main Radiology unit. (Wheelchair training will be provided)
• Assisting in the timely arrival of inpatients for their appointments to minimise delays within the department.
• Improving the overall patient journey by providing a friendly presence and reducing anxiety caused by long waiting times or transport delays.
• Helping to maximise equipment usage by ensuring a steady flow of patients to the department, allowing clinical staff to focus on scans and treatment.

Important note on completion of the application form

REFERENCES: Candidates are required to provide the address, telephone number and work email address of TWO referees, who should be either a current or former employer, senior work colleague, teacher, tutor or person of good standing in the community, and certify that they have known you for a minimum of 3 years prior to the date of application.  PLEASE NOTE: That we cannot accept references from Friends or Family members.

DBS: The majority of our Volunteer roles require a Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS) Check.  The volunteer services team will apply for this on your behalf, as part of your pre-engagement checks.  If you already hold an enhanced DBS and it is registered on the DBS Update Service, then you will need to provide evidence and present your original DBS certificate to the Volunteer Services Team during your ID check appointment.
