Employer heading
Assistant Director of Primary Care
This is a permanent, full-time role in Londonwide LMCs, the membership organisation representing nearly 7,000 NHS General Practitioners in over 1,100 practice teams in London, providing pan-London leadership and shared committee services for its members. The organisation has an important role to Value, Care for, and Protect general practice.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Primary Care team, which provides contractual expertise and system knowledge to Local Medical Committees in an ICS area within London. Reporting to the Director of Primary Care, you will work across the ICB with local committee members, constituent GPs, practices and groups of practices, such as primary care networks, and many different stakeholders, including commissioners, clinical directors and other healthcare providers.
The role is challenging and rewarding. We would like to hear from candidates who have:
- An understanding of general practice and the challenges faced by GPs and practice teams.
- Direct primary care experience, for example, gained through primary care commissioning; general practice delivery (such as practice management); or LMC experience.
- An understanding and working knowledge of current NHS priorities and of health and care systems.
- The ability to build strong and influential external relationships to represent GPs at the ICS level.
- The ability to assimilate and analyse complex information to produce briefings and position documents.
- The ability to build influential and collaborative relationships that will enhance the position of Local Medical Committees and Londonwide LMCs as a trusted partner.
- The ability to work with committees to ensure constituency representation and accountability.
- The ability to lead, develop, and manage internal teams.
As an organisation, we work flexibly, and regular home-working is supported. The post is contractually based at our offices located in central London near Euston, and there may be times when it is important to travel to external meetings.
The salary for the role will be £56,151 pa, plus membership of the group personal pension scheme with a 16% employer pension contribution. Benefits include 25 days’ annual leave, flexi time and other flexible working options. The company holds the Investors in People Silver award and is committed to the personal and professional development of all colleagues.
