Recognising the significant amount of new business being pursued, we are looking to strengthen our operational financial team, initially for a fixed term period, to ensure we have the capacity to develop investment cases, respond to tenders and establish robust processes for monitoring income generating activities.

As we are committed to developing our workforce, we are offering this as an internal secondment.

Main duties of the job

This is an opportunity to support our Clinical Directorates to bring new services ideas to fruition, to develop contract negotiation skills, to work on pricing strategies and to have increased liaison with Commissioners. The successful candidate will be supported by, and work closely with, the Chief Finance Officer.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will take the lead responsibility for the effective financial management of the operational budgets for both Children's and Learning Disabilities services, with a particular emphasis on income recovery and service expansion. 

They will ensure patient related income is optimised through the effective negotiation, day-to-day management and performance monitoring of all Patient Income contracts that the Directorates hold.

  • Full Accountancy qualification
  • Evidence of continuous professional and personal development

Experience

  • Significant staff management experience.
  • Experience of report writing and presentation
  • Experience of operating at a senior management level within the NHS.
  • Experience of assessing the financial sustainability of services
  • Experience of formulating pricing strategies
  • Specific in-depth knowledge of the challenges facing health and social care
