We require an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated dietitian to join our friendly and innovative Paediatric Dietetic Team. You will join a team of 6 Paediatric Dietitians,  and will provide a specialist Paediatric Dietetic service to infants and children (0-16 years) including Special Needs children, under the care of the Consultant Paediatrician’s in Darent Valley Hospital and General Practitioners and Community Paediatricians in Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley and Bexley. 

You will provide specialist dietetic care to children being tube fed at home and be an integral part of the Multi-Disciplinary Paediatric Teams at Darent Valley Hospital, including the Multi-Disciplinary Teams for Willow Ward, for Eating Disorders and Multi-Disciplinary Dysphagia Team for Pre-school Children.

To work autonomously within the field of Paediatric Dietetics with no supervision and be the dietetic lead for an agreed paediatric specialty.

To accept clinical responsibility for this designated caseload of children and to organise this effectively with regard to clinical priorities and time management

To provide specialist dietary advice and information to children with complex conditions (eg. multiple allergy, preterm babies, enteral nutrition) and their families as in-patients, out-patients and in the Community.   This will involve working in specialist clinics, special schools and seeing patients in their own home.

 

To undertake comprehensive assessments of patients, including biochemistry, anthropometrics, clinical condition, diet history and social circumstances to use advanced clinical reasoning skills to interpret data

 

To hold a caseload of the Home Enteral Fed children within Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley, undertake comprehensive dietary assessments and advise on suitable feeding plans, provide solutions to problems with feeds, feeding tubes or stoma sites

Education/Qualifications

  • Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics, Post-graduate diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Registered Dietitian with HCPC
  • 1st and 2nd Modules of qualification in Paediatrics
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate clinical education
  • Trained in facilitated learning for under-graduate practice placements

  • BDA membership
  • Member of BDA Paediatric Group and the BDA Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Sub-Group
  • 3rd and 4th Modules of qualification in Paediatrics

Experience
