Band 5
West London NHS Trust provides a full range of mental health, community and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.
We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.
Job overview
Join our Estates & Facilities team as an Electrical Technician and play a vital role in maintaining the electrical infrastructure that supports essential healthcare services within a secure and unique environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and motivated individual to apply their technical expertise across a diverse range of electrical systems while contributing directly to the delivery of safe, reliable patient care.
Working as part of a professional and supportive team, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, testing, and repairs, ensuring systems remain operational, compliant, and efficient. We're looking for someone with strong electrical knowledge, a proactive approach to problem solving, and a commitment to high standards of safety and workmanship. In return, you'll gain the opportunity to work in a varied and rewarding role where your skills are valued, your development is supported, and your contribution makes a real difference every day.
Main duties of the job
You will support the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems across a large, secure healthcare estate, carrying out planned preventative maintenance and responding to reactive repairs. Working in accordance with HTM-06 guidance, statutory regulations, and Trust procedures, you will inspect, test, fault-find, and repair a wide range of electrical equipment and infrastructure to ensure systems remain reliable and compliant. You will assist with the completion of maintenance records, support contractors when required, and maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and tool control. The role requires strong technical knowledge, good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. You will communicate effectively with colleagues and service users, providing a professional and customer-focused service while contributing to the continuous improvement of the estate.
