Job overview

We are recruiting one full-time (10 PAs) substantive Consultant in either Clinical or Medical Oncology to join the Oncology team at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder would be expected to work in two main tumour sites, potentially with involvement in the acute oncology service. 

The need for the department is for the post holder to provide and continue to develop, depending on the candidate, oncology services for patients with urological, gynae and lung cancer across West Berkshire.

Please note the interview date is 19th September 2025 and the simulation date is 9th September 2025.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicants will support the current delivery of Oncology including contribution to the development of these services at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. The appointee will join the existing team to provide specialist care to this growing population of patients, and raise departmental profiles through teaching and education.

 

The aim of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust’s Oncology Service is to become a leader in the field of Oncology management and the successful applicant must therefore have the pre-requisite procedural and leadership skills as well as teamwork, drive and ambition to succeed in achieving these goals.

 

This is a whole time post with 10 Programmed Activities for Direct Clinical Care (DCCs). The initial SPA allocation will be 1.5 per week however this may increase as additional responsibility is taken on.

 

There is an expectation that the successful candidate will work flexibly with colleagues to ensure the maintenance of a continuing high quality service meeting patient needs and to raise departmental profiles through teaching and education.

 

Applicants are required to have full GMC registration, and either be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT/EU equivalent certification at the time of interview.

  • Full registration with the GMC
  • MRCP or equivalent

  • Advanced life support
