Chemotherapy Day Unit (Hospital & Community Satellites) 

The friendly team on the Chemotherapy Day Unit deliver nurse led services for patients receiving  Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy (SACT) to treat solid tumours and haematological conditions, including those participating in clinical trials and TYA patients 

The service has achieved Gold Accreditation, reflecting its high standards of patient care.

We can offer full‑time / Part‑time | Permanent positions. 

A Senior Staff Nurse in a Haematology & Oncology Day Unit provides high‑quality, patient‑centred care to patients receiving systemic anti‑cancer therapies (SACT), blood products, and supportive treatments in an ambulatory setting. The role combines advanced clinical skills with leadership, education, and service development responsibilities.

Main duties of the job

💛 What You’ll Be Doing

Clinical Practice

  • Deliver safe, evidence‑based nursing care to patients with haematological and oncological conditions
  • Administer SACT, immunotherapy, blood and blood products in line with local and national policies
  • Assess, monitor, and manage treatment‑related side effects, including acute oncological emergencies
  • Perform venepuncture, cannulation, central venous access device (CVAD) care (e.g. PICCs, ports)
  • Provide holistic assessment, symptom management, and patient education
  • Act as a clinical role model, maintaining high standards of infection control and medicines management

  • NMC Registration
  • Appropriate proven leadership and management experience
  • Proven commitment and experience, evidence in teaching
  • SACT trained and has current UKONS competency
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of post Graduate Education or willingness to work towards
  • Experience as practice supervisor/assessor
