Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Rheumatology Department at Glangwili General Hospital as a Medical Secretary. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised, and reliable individual to work 37.5 hours per week on a permanent basis.
In this role, you will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Rheumatology Consultant, acting as their Personal Assistant and ensuring the smooth running of day to day operations.
The post holder will be required to provide remote cross‑cover for other medical secretaries across the Health Board when necessary, ensuring continuity of service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining accurate records both manually and within electronic systems and must be able to manage sensitive and confidential patient information such as clinical correspondence, investigation reports, and test results.
A good understanding of medical or healthcare terminology and experience using patient database systems is essential. The role requires regular use of the T‑Pro voice recognition system, along with accurate transcription and transfer of information into Health Board systems including WPAS and WCP.
The post holder will act as the first point of contact for all communication on behalf of the Consultant and wider team, responding professionally to enquiries from GPs, patients and relatives, consultants, and other hospitals.
