Job overview

The Catering Department at Prince Philip  Hospital is currently looking to recruit a Catering Assistant who would like to join a large team of individuals within the department in providing an effective and efficient cleaning and catering service. The successful candidate will play an integral role within the team in ensuring that the food is prepared, delivered and the department is cleaned to the highest standard.

Main duties of the job

The contract  available is 1 x  30 hour post. This contract is to work 4 days a week  Monday to Sunday to include Bank Holidays as and when required for which additional payment is made.  

Duties will be varied covering  both  various duties to include cooking, kitchen portering,  restaurant and pot wash duties.  You will be supported and trained on how to provide a high level of customer service and restock areas whilst maintaining a clean and hygienic area as you work. There will be a requirement to handle card and cash payments.

As a catering Assistant, duties will include assisting the cook in charge with all aspects of food provision, deep cleaning within the Kitchen area and cleaning of equipment used during the course of the day.

Full training will be provided within the department. Hours of work are between 06:00am -20:00pm. 

 Successful candidates will receive uniform and full training.

•    47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
•    Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
