Job overview

Main duties of the job

Performs independently transthoracic echocardiography, (TTE) using manual dexterity and precision, exercising specialist judge mental skills when acquiring images. To perform 12 Lead Electrocardiograms when necessary.
To produce full, accurate and comprehensive clinical reports independently for each study, which will directly affect patient care and/or management. Responsibility for own caseload.
To take a leading role in staff development and training as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsible along with the other Band 7 Physiologist for the operational responsibility of the department on a day to day basis. This includes a clinical workload (i.e. performing and/or reporting on all the non-invasive tests) as well as day to day management and supervision of staff.

To initiate and participate in clinical audit within the department and to use the results to improve quality of service.
To be a specialist in echocardiography, etc. to develop competence in clinical supervision and be able to act as clinical supervisor where necessary.

  • Membership to professional body acquired by examination either BSE (postgraduate diploma level)
  • 1- 2 years post BSE Accreditation. or working towards BSE Accreditation
  • 1-2 years’ experience at a Senior level of independent practice.

  • Able to draw upon a broad range of clinical knowledge
  • Relevant accredited courses Masters in Echocardiography
  • Able to communicate complex information. Excellent interpersonal skills.
