Job overview
We have an opportunity for an experienced dietitian to join our friendly team as the lead stroke dietitian for acute and community stroke dietetic care across Dartford, Gravesham & Swanley. This will be a 12 month fixed term post covering maternity leave. You will lead a small acute stroke dietetic team and work independently in the community, looking after stroke patients with and without feeding tubes. This clinical service currently operates Monday to Friday and is a split role with 50% of time in the acute setting and 50% of the time in the community.
You will be well supported and you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the wider dietetic service which the Dartford & Gravesham team provide.

Main duties of the job
To be the dietetic lead for the acute stroke unit and working with a small dietetic team.
To provide a comprehensive nutrition and dietetics service for stroke patients in both the acute and community settings, ensuring continuity of care.
To have the clinical skills/knowledge to manage the daily care and insertion of enteral feeding tube/ tube related problems in both the acute and community setting.
To independently manage a caseload of home enteral nutrition (HEN) patients and be a point of contact for HEN queries and cover for the wider HEN caseload.
To deputise for the Acute Dietetic Team Lead, when necessary

Essential criteria
- Degree/Post grad Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent qualification
- Registered Dietitian with HCPC
- 3-4 years post graduate experience to include enteral feeding and community dietetics
- Evidence of post graduate education /CPD
- Trained in facilitated learning for undergraduate practice placement
Desirable criteria
- BDA membership
- Membership of special interest group
- Completion of PENG course or equivalent experience in community enteral feeding
Knowledge & skills

- Able to plan workload and manage junior staff as required
- Ability to work in a team
- Problem solving and decision making skills

- Experience of auditing practice and making recommendations for change
