If you share these aims, we have an opportunity for a professional, confident and motivated individual to join our Pharmacy Team.  Candidates must be self-motivated and able to motivate others, enthusiastic and hardworking ability to lead and be approachable. The post holder is primarily responsible provision of a safe and efficient dispensing support for pharmaceutical services within the Trust, supervising the work of more junior dispensary personnel.

Main duties of the job

The post holder has responsibility to support other pharmacy professionals in delivering medicines optimisation services to patients across the Trust, including all pathways within the Virtual Hospital (VH).

Plan, supervise and prioritise the workload within the Dispensary.

To undertake regular stock checks in line with departmental procedures.

To ensure all Controlled Drugs dispensed are legally and correctly as permitted by the Misuse of Drugs Regulations stated in the current Medicines, Ethics and Practice Guide.

Manage the Pharmacy Tracker system for all tracked items and prescriptions.

Generates orders and processes invoices on the JAC/CMM Computer System for pharmaceuticals and other goods for the pharmacy department to ensure that there are sufficient supplies to meet Trust’s needs. 

To reduce medicines wastage by the operational provision of a safe and efficient patient own drug (POD) re-use scheme if required.

Participate in the general running of the department undertaking a full range of duties of a Senior Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer (SATO).

Assists the Lead Pharmacy Technician with administrative duties and ensuring correct stock levels are maintained including accurate and timely replenishment of pharmacy and ward stock.

The post holder will be required to work weekends and Bank Holidays.

 The post holder will be responsible for prioritising their own workload; they will be required to work accurately whilst under pressure.
