Consultant Radiologist – Cross Sectional Imaging with special interest

NHS Medical & Dental: Consultant

Job overview

Consultant Radiologists - Cross Sectional Imaging with special interest in MSK Radiology.

Dartford and Gravesham NHS trust
Full time-10 PA's
Permanent

Substantive posts have arisen for Consultant Radiologists within Clinical Radiology based at Darent Valley Hospital (DVH) and Queen Mary’s Hospital (QMH), Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust, to support Radiology services. This is for a Consultant Radiologist post with subspecialty interest in Musculoskeletal Radiology.

Clinical Radiology Services at Darent Valley Hospital and Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup, are unified under a single Directorate. The successful candidate will be an employee of the Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will assist in smoothly running and providing an effective and efficient service. He/she will be expected to manage the service and attend meetings of the Directorate and other committees to which he/she may be appointed. The post holder may be expected to attend meetings convened by management that directly affect the work of his/her department. Opportunities to develop or maintain sub-specialist interests will be supported.

Duties will include all those normally expected of a Radiologist in a similar-sized Radiology Department in the United Kingdom. The majority of the appointee’s time will be spent on clinical duties. In addition, the appointee is expected to take part in the formal teaching and ongoing audit programmes within the Directorate and perform a full range of management duties commensurate with this role.

We welcome applications from people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives and experiences build on the progress we’ve achieved to make our Trust diverse and the best place to work. We celebrate the diversity of thought, viewpoints and ideas that help us overcome challenges and embrace new possibilities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will participate in general Radiological duties, including on-calls, and have subspecialty sessions as required. These sessions include supporting relevant MDTs, ultrasound lists, and procedures.

The job plan may be adapted by agreement with the possibility of part-time working. The post offered is an 11-session job plan based on 9.5 DCC, with an allocation of 1.5 SPA-related activities. The post holder would support the Radiology on-call service. Teleradiology service provides overnight CT cover from 8 pm to 9 am on weekdays and 5 pm to 9 am on weekends.

This is a busy cross-sectional scanning department. We have two 128-slice CT scanners at Darent Valley Hospital and another one at QMS, Sidcup. The DVH department has a Philips 1.5T and 3T MRI on-site. North Kent Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) hosts a 128-slice CT and 1.5T MRI scanner.

The successful applicant will have to work at any site if required. As part of the expansion of NHS radiology services and future modelling, there may be a requirement to work on different sites to meet service needs that are part of Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. For example, this may include innovations such as CDC.
