You will be working in one of our Intensive Care Units based at either Maidstone or Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
Our Intensive Care Team are friendly, supportive and committed to delivering excellent patient care. We are lucky to have a range of dynamic clinical nurse specialists and sisters who support the clinical teams. This post offers the opportunity to learn and develop acute care nursing skills.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join our nursing team. In return for your enthusiasm, you will be supported to develop your clinical skills and will have the opportunity to develop personally and professionally as part of a ‘high challenge, high support’ environment.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.
The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 500,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.
The Trust’s core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients – the first of its kind in the country.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will be expected to attend the Trust’s Induction Programme for RNs, RMs and ODPs (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time (please contact the programme lead if this is problematic: firstname.lastname@example.org), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area and classroom-based study days which run from 9am to 5pm.

In order to protect the health and safety of our staff, service users and those attending our sites, we require our staff who have contact with vulnerable service users to have had the COVID vaccine prior to starting work. We are required by the Department of Health to provide data to verify your COVID-19 vaccination status and will therefore ask for proof of vaccination during the recruitment process. Vaccination will be a condition of employment unless an exemption applies.
- Registered with Nursing & Midwifery Council
- To have at least 6 months experience, either medicine or surgery.
- Able to administer IV Medication
- Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice at the level of a newly qualified nurse.
- Understanding of equality and diversity and how to apply it to self.
- Understanding of NMC Code of Practice and requirements of it for own practice and behaviour.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
