Job overview

The post holder will be expected at all times to work within the NMC Standards of Proficiency for Nursing Associates to meet with individual needs of the designated patient population. The post holder will be accountable to the registered nurse in charge of the ward/department for the delivery of nursing care to a specific group of patients. The post holder will organise own time and that of junior staff, delegating to junior staff and learners, and participating in teaching and education programmes for staff and patients.

We require a Band 4 Nurse Associate to work independently under the guidance and direction of a Registered Nurse in order to provide efficient and effective evidence based nursing care to patients and be part of our sexual health team.  Applicants must have:

  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
  • Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification
  • GCSE Grade A-C English and Maths or level 2 in Maths and English

Education and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
  • Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification
  • GCSE Grade A-C English and Maths
Desirable criteria
  • Sexual Health & contraception experience
  • Experience of working in Nurse Led clinics
  • Venepuncture, microscopy and cryotherapy.
  • Skills in Contraception and Sexual Health nursing

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
  • Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical audit
  • Sexual Health & contraception experience
  • Experience of working in Nurse Led clinics
