Job overview
Maintenance Technicians are employed to work across both engineering disciplines.
They will have been trained wider than their core skill and acquired elements of both Electrical and Mechanical skills and have reached a level of flexibility and competence which enables them to achieve and apply the ability where required to perform across the summary duties listed below.
Responsible to maintain mechanical and electrical systems, plant and equipment, buildings and building components in order to ensure their safe operation, serviceability and compliance with statutory regulations, policies and procedures. (CHP and Boiler plant, HVAC plant, electrical distribution, fire detection, building control & automation, standby generator plant, basic refrigeration, basic and emergency lift care & nurse call systems).
Main duties of the job
§ You will be required to carry out the duties of the Team Leader as necessary and directly supervise other shift technicians on duty checking and evaluating their work etc.
§ To work in accordance with the requirements of HTM’s, HBN’s, latest edition of the Wiring Regulations BS7671, health and safety regulations/guidelines and Trust’s health and safety polices.
§ Test, diagnose and repair faults on engineering and/or electrical and plumbing installations, plant and equipment, to deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.
§ Undertake fault-finding on all critical systems and equipment. Using ‘cause effect analysis’ and detailed examination to gain a solution.
§ Undertake general maintenance and installation work on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment at the request of Trust maintenance management team.
§ To be prepared to work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.
§ Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings and specifications without supervision.
