COVID-19 Vacancy Ward Manager- F16 Wythenshawe Hospital

Band 7

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 28,000 staff.

We are responsible for running a family of ten hospitals across seven separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

Our vision is to improve the health and quality of life of our diverse population by building an organisation that:

  • Excels in quality, safety, patient experience, research, innovation and teaching
  • Attracts, develops and retains great people
  • Is recognised internationally as a leading healthcare provider.

We are looking for an inspirational leader to become an interim Ward Manager of Ward F16 on secondment for a minimum of 3 months.  F16 is a 15 bedded Gynaecology ward, with an additional 4 day case beds, that delivers care to women experiencing problems in early pregnancy. We work closely with the Emergency Gynaecology Unit who are located on the same floor plan.  This ward is an inpatient and day case ward for emergency Gynaecology surgical patients to be cared for pre and postoperatively until able to return home.

The post offers an exciting opportunity to develop skills with emergency Gynaecology patients, working alongside different members of the multidisciplinary team.  This is an ideal opportunity for leadership and management development to successfully lead a nursing team to deliver excellent care and professional standards as part of a supportive directorate within Saint Mary's Managed Clinical Service.

The post holder will lead all aspects of professional nursing practice at ward level including line management of the ward team, staff budget resources and management of the ward environment.  You will work closely with the Matron and will also be supported by the Lead Nurse and Head of Nursing.

To apply for this post you must have substantial experience at band 6 level and be a positive role model, looking for a new challenge or an opportunity to develop further in your nursing career. Gynaecology experience is not essential as applicants with demonstrable leadership skills and experience within an acute setting are encouraged to apply.
