Job overview

This is a part‑time position of 25 hours per week. The successful candidate must be flexible and able to cover a variety of shifts, which may include days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays when required.

We are seeking a hardworking and enthusiastic individual to join our Domestic Services Team based at Rochdale Infirmary. The team provides essential cleaning services across multiple sites, including The Floyd Unit, Whitehall Street, and Tudor Court, ensuring a safe and high‑quality environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

The successful post holder will join our Estates & Facilities team, delivering a high‑quality, flexible and customer‑focused service. As a Domestic Team Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a professional and efficient range of duties across the hospital.

Main duties of the job

  • You will ensure the day-to-day domestic work is carried out effectively by the domestic team and manage and reorganise the work of team members schedules taking into account unforeseen circumstances i.e., sickness absence.
  • You will also assist and provide a full cleaning service to sterile areas, offices and departments in accordance with work schedules and activity within the area.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ 3 Cleaning or equivalent experience of managing/supervising a team in this work area.

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Experience in Managing large staff groups
  • Have good understanding of COSHH
  • Have good understanding of Manual Handling

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • To be able to work as part of a team also capable of working on own initiative.
  • Experience of supervising staff
  • Substantial experience in a domestic role in a facilities department within a health care setting
  • Demonstrates knowledge of cleaning methods and protocols
  • Basic PC skills/clerical experience
